Rubber Sheet Insulation Protective PIB Sheeting Chalked 0.8mm x 1m x 15m Roll
Description
Plysolene PIB Sheeting PIB0.815X1 (0.815m x 1m)
Premium Waterproofing & Cladding for Medium to Large Pipes & Ducting
Plysolene PIB0.815X1 is a high-performance UK-manufactured Polyisobutylene (PIB) thermoplastic sheeting designed for long-term weatherproofing and corrosion protection of insulated pipework, ventilation ducts, tanks, and industrial infrastructure. This 0.815m x 1m sheet offers the same trusted Plysolene quality — proven over 50+ years — in a versatile size ideal for medium to large-diameter applications.
Key Features
- Exceptional Durability: Fully resistant to UV, ozone, and weathering — no cracking, chalking, or embrittlement even after decades of exposure.
- Broad Temperature Performance: Remains flexible and effective from -30°C to +100°C — suitable for chilled water, hot water, steam, and process lines.
- Superior Chemical Resistance: Impervious to oils, acids, alkalis, salts, and industrial chemicals.
- Solvent Weldable: Forms permanent, monolithic seals via solvent welding — zero leaks, zero maintenance.
- Versatile Size: 0.815m width x 1m length — perfect for pipes up to 500mm OD (with insulation), HVAC ducts, and tank cladding.
- Thickness Options: 0.5mm, 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm — select based on insulation depth and mechanical protection required.
- Colour & Finish: Black (external), White (internal); chalked or interleaved liner to prevent sticking during storage and installation.
Typical Applications
PIB0.815X1 is the professional choice for medium to large-scale industrial and commercial installations:
- Weatherproof jacketing on insulated pipework in power stations, refineries, and process plants
- Protective cladding for HVAC ventilation ducts and air handling units
- Waterproof membrane for tanks, bunds, and containment structures
- Corrosion and moisture barrier in marine, offshore, and coastal environments
- Long-term protection of above-ground and underground insulated pipelines
Why Choose Plysolene PIB0.815X1?
Backed by Plysolene’s 50+ years of expertise in PIB technology, this sheeting delivers unmatched longevity and reliability. Its non-absorbent, non-ageing polymer structure eliminates water ingress and CUI (corrosion under insulation). Solvent-welded joints create a fully sealed, vapour-tight barrier — reducing energy loss and maintenance costs for the life of the system.

Plysolene PIB0.815X1 Installation Guide
Step-by-Step Instructions for Professional Results
Follow this guide to install PIB0.815X1 sheeting on medium to large pipes, ducts, and tanks. Use only Plysolene Solvent. Work in a ventilated area with PPE.
1. Preparation
- Clean Surface: Insulation must be dry, smooth, and free from dust/oil. Wipe with a dry cloth.
- Measure: Circumference = π × (pipe OD + 2 × insulation) + 100mm overlap. Add 10% for fittings.
- Cut Sheets: Use sharp knife on flat surface. Score and fold for curves.
- Conditions: Install >5°C. Warm materials to 15°C in cold weather.
2. Installation
- Wrap: Start at 6 o’clock, wrap clockwise. Keep tension even.
- Solvent: Brush thin coat on both overlaps. Open time: 1–2 mins.
- Weld: Press firmly, roll with silicone roller. Overlap: 75mm min.
- Stagger Joints: ≥150mm from previous. Seal all edges.
- Fittings: Miter-cut gores for elbows. Use pre-formed boxes for valves.
- End Caps: Cut and weld circular caps with 360° seal.
3. Finishing
- Clean: Wipe excess solvent immediately.
- Cure: 24h initial, 72h full. Do not disturb.
- Inspect: No gaps, strong welds (test pull).
Detailed Solvent Welding Techniques for PIB0.815X1
Achieve 100% Monolithic Joints Every Time
Solvent Welding Process
- Prep: Clean both surfaces. Warm to 15°C if cold.
- Align: Mark overlap. Peel back the top sheet 150mm.
- Apply: Thin even coat of Plysolene Solvent to both surfaces (~220 g/m²).
- Bond: Press within 60 sec. Roll firmly outward from the centre.
- Finish: Re-roll after 2 mins. Clamp flat joints 10 mins.
Joint Types
| Joint | Technique | Overlap |
|---|---|---|
| Longitudinal | Weld at 12 o’clock | 75–100mm |
| Circumferential | Stagger ≥150mm | 75–100mm |
| Elbow | Miter 6–8 gores | 75mm |
| Valve Box | Fabricate + flange | 100mm |
Temperature Adjustments
- Cold (<10°C): Warm materials, open time → 3 mins
- Hot (>25°C): Work in shade, open time → 45 secs
Troubleshooting
- Weak Weld: Clean + re-weld with new overlap
- Bubbles: Roll immediately, avoid over-solvent
- Delamination: Contamination — use IPA, dry fully
Safety
- Use Plysolene Solvent only. No smoking. Ventilate.
- Avoid bitumen, polystyrene, PVC contact.
